Blown Away

Blow dry bar? Beauty bar? Am I the only one who is still trying to grasp the concept. Wash your hair at home, get dressed, drive to the mall to have a stranger blow dry your hair. Let us not leave out the array of looks you get when your hair type is not frequent at the bar. Who has the time to pay to explain about your type of hair? Au contraire mon frère, I learned something new today.

Fellow OC blogger Cool Hip Mom created a post about her experience at Be Blown Away. Her post peaked my interest to schedule an appointment today with stylist Casey. The best decision I made this week.

The salon is very trendy. Great place for selfies. I can best describe it as Hollywood glam meets Orange County glitz. Located in Laguna Niguel at 32411 Golden Lantern Street.

Stylist Casey exuded energy and professionalism. She greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked in to the salon. We went straight to the shampoo lounge to lather up my crown. Next, she revealed her cards and put me to ease by pulling out a blow dryer with a comb attachment. This is a must with hair like mine. If you think a blow dryer with a bristle cylinder brush is going to do the job, you will not be touching my hair. Note to Orange County beauty schools please invest in blow dryers with comb attachments and spend more than the minimal amount of time learning about POC hair. I digress,  Casey blow dryed, flat iron and trimmed my hair in an hour.  I even had time to spare to take selfies with the salon ring light.

The experience was first class without the first class price. I walked out spending $45+tip. I look forward to my next visit to Be Blown Away and being pampered by Casey. I will also try their other services.
